Chinese AI app Lingguang with quick app building and AGI camera reaches 2 million downloads
The Lingguang app, created by Ant Group, has achieved more than two million downloads within a week. The popularity of this new multimodal AI assistant has reportedly overtaken ChatGPIT and Sora in early adoption.

Ant Group’s newly launched AI app Lingguang has become one of China’s most explosive tech releases in 2025, surpassing two million downloads in just six days. The app’s widespread popularity has helped it overtake ChatGPT and Sora’s early adoption, a big moment in China’s intense AI race. The app reportedly reached sixth place on China’s Apple App Store and topped the Free Utilities chart.
According to the manufacturer, Ant Group, download speeds not only surpassed its internal forecasts, but also outperformed rival AI applications during its first week on the market. “This milestone means Lingguang is a major player worth following in the rapidly evolving global AI race,” the company said (via the South China Morning Post ). The app’s rise comes amid growing competition in China’s consumer AI market, where companies like Ant Group, Alibaba and ByteDance are racing to define mainstream AI experiences.

What is Lingguang App?
Lingguang is a multimodal AI application designed to help users build apps, generate scenes, analyze real-world scenes, and interact with AI in more natural, intuitive ways. Unlike traditional AI chatbots that rely primarily on text-based interactions, Lingguang brings together language, images, video, and 3D content to provide an all-in-one creative and analytical environment. It is available in China through Apple’s App Store, major Android marketplaces, and even a global web client, expanding its reach beyond the country.
Some of the interesting features of the Lingguang app that are making it one of the most popular AI tools in China include:
Instant “Flash App” creation
The standout feature that adds to LingGuang’s popularity is its Flash App tool. Using this feature, users describe the app they want in simple language – such as a wallpaper generator, budgeting tool or study companion – and the system creates it in minutes. The function reportedly became so popular that it temporarily crashed due to excessive use, triggering eight rounds of emergency capacity expansion. Ant Group also confirmed the brief suspension on Weibo, attributing it to unprecedented demand. The company noted that most users made the same changes about six times per Flash app, while some made more than 100 changes in less than two hours.
multimodal content creation
The company says its AI app Lingguang goes far beyond text responses. It provides users with the ability to create 3D models, interactive charts, animations, and illustrations. Users can take help of this app to visualize complex ideas, design quick prototypes or generate creative assets that would otherwise require specialized software.
AGI cameras for real-world intelligence
Another major highlight of the app is said to be its AGI-powered camera, which can sense and analyze real-world scenes. It supports real-time image and video editing directly from mobile devices, allowing users to modify objects, gain context-aware insights or easily create dynamic visual content.
