Originally, when Charlie Puth heard his name in a song on Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, he thought it was a joke or an edit using artificial intelligence. In the title track of her chart-topping album, Swift sings, “We declared that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.” Puth recently revealed how shocked he was after hearing that line, he couldn’t believe it.
Still, he enjoyed the yelling, even though it surprised him. After hearing a snippet of Swift’s track, she realized that the line was too intelligent to have been created by a non-human artist. This must be Taylor’s talent.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Puth expressed, “Well, it’s quite admirable. I thought it was AI because AI is everywhere. Then, I heard a clip of it and thought, this is AI for Very smart; it’s very clever – the way it rhymes.”
During a previous discussion with Rolling Stone, a deeper thought provided further context to those comments as to how Puth found out about Swift after she credited him with a line. A friend had told him about screaming after hearing a leaked excerpt of Taylor’s song, but Puth dismissed it.
However, he was hopeful that it was possible that she would confront him during press tours. At the same time, he also thought it might be a practical joke, imagining that someone was trying to trick such a famous composer by asking him to comment on his work.
Puth later told the outlet, “It’s nice to get a stamp of approval from an artist that you’ve idolized for so long and still do.”
This special recognition is one of the highlights of his year, as he also married Brooke Sansone on September 7 at their family home in Montecito, California. In the post regarding the wedding, he shared his warm feelings towards Brooke along with a sweet declaration of the eternal love promised between the two.
The two started dating in June 2022 and have been lifelong friends. According to Vogue, the couple paid homage to their New Jersey roots when they chose Bruce Springsteen’s Jersey Girl for their first dance at the wedding. After dating for a year and three months, Charlie Puth proposed to Sansone on September 5, 2023 in New York City.
