At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled the much-awaited iOS 18 and its AI capabilities. While the event covered all the major features, Apple left some smaller but smart features behind. In their defense, they already had a lot of that, giving the audience a fair idea of what iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence offers. But that doesn’t make these updates any less important.

These features include new bezel animations, bilingual typing, Vision Pro will show the keyboard in virtual mode, addition of charging limit and some more. Let’s discuss these features in detail.

The iPhone’s bezels are coming to life

One of these features is the bezel animation on the upcoming iOS 18. The beta stage of iOS 18 shows a new clever animation when you press the side button. Verge has found that pressing the side button on an iOS 18-supported device feels like pushing into the screen. While this feature may seem like just adding a fun element to the user experience, it may have a role to play.

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to release the upcoming iPhone 16 series with solid buttons on the side that don’t move when pressed. This feature could compliment the new hardware upgrade. The animation could be a visual indicator of the click of the side button.

Flashlight Pattern

The beta phone also found that tapping on the flashlight icon in iOS 18 beta will also have a new pattern. For now, the flashlight can only be changed with its intensity, but now iOS 18 will also let users change the size of the beam. The animation of the flashlight is that users can slide their finger left and right to adjust the pattern of the flashlight.

But this special flash can only be found on the iPhone 15 Pro phones right now.

bilingual writing experience

If you know multiple languages, then this new feature might excite you a lot. In the iOS 18 beta version, the OS lets users toggle between two different languages at the same time. Say goodbye to the need to repeatedly tap the screen or switch the keyboard to another language.

This feature will pause the autocorrect results just because the user wants to type some word in a language other than English.

Widget Customization

At WWDC 2024, Apple announced that the new iOS 18 is all about customization. They also demonstrated how the home screen can be personalized well. Apart from this, Apple is also working on a better way to resize widgets in iOS 18. The beta version shows that a long press on the home screen will open a row of size options in the context menu.

Vision Pro will have a virtual keypad

One of the most exciting features in the Vision Pro is that the headset will show the user their keyboard when you are in a completely virtual environment. This feature will let users work in the mountains or on the beach. But this feature is designed to work with the Magic Keyboard.

Charging Limit

In the Settings app for iOS 18, iPhone 15 series users will see multiple options to set charging limits in the Charging section of the Battery menu. Currently, Apple only allows users to set a charge limit of 80 percent. However, with improved features in iOS 18, users will have the option to set the charge limit to 85 percent, 90 percent, and 95 percent.

iOS 18, which is smarter than the previous operating system, will also be able to notify users if they are using a slow charger. This new feature will be available under the Battery menu in the Settings app. Read more about it here.

In this list, Apple has also introduced new wallpapers in macOS Sequoia.
