‘Chandu Champion’ opened its doors in cinemas with Rs 5.40 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 7.70 crore and Rs 11.01 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The film performed well on its first Monday due to Eid holiday in most parts of the country and earned Rs 6.01 crore.

The film grossed ₹17.63 crore in the second weekend.

However, the film’s director Kabir Khan recently spoke about his film’s slow start at the box office. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kabir Khan was asked if he could figure out what went wrong with ‘Chandu Champion’s’ initial collections.

He replied, “It’s too early to say what the reasons are, but after Covid, it has become very difficult to analyse logically in terms of behaviour. The opening was definitely below our expectations because of the underwhelming response to the trailer and the songs that were released. So it could have been expected that the opening would be a little better, but it didn’t happen the way we wanted.”

Chandu Champion is based on the real-life story of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar. It also stars Vijay Raj and Rajpal Yadav in lead roles.
