Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar review Kartik Aaryan’s film Chandu Champion
After much wait, Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion finally released in theatres on June 14. While cinema lovers are flocking to theatres to watch the biopic, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar also enjoyed the film in a private theatre on Sunday, June 16.
They were spotted exiting the venue where the private screening was held. When asked if they liked the film or not, the couple said that it was a wonderful film. They unanimously said, “Bahut Achchi Hai.”
Shabana Azmi added, “Main toh ro-ro ke paagal ho gayi and Kartil ka kaam bahut acha tha. Kabir ne bahut chacha kaara. Main bahut din ke baad Kabir ki film dekha aur usne pakad ke second half pe bhi rakha. (I couldn’t stop myself from crying while watching the film and Kartil has done a brilliant job. Kabir Khan (director) has done a fabulous job. It’s been a while since I watched a Kabir film. The story kept us hooked in the second half as well.)”
To keep an eye:
When Azmi said that it was an inspiring story, Akhtar nodded in agreement. The Bun Tikki actress further said, “They have paid a huge debt that itni good story got lost in the pages and they came 50 years later… abhi unne (Murlikant Petkar) khud dekhiye film aur woh ro rhe the.” (The producers have brought such a good story after 50 years. Murlikant Petkar also got teary-eyed after watching the film made on him.)
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Chandu Champion also stars Vijay Raj, Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Anirudh Dave, Shreyas Talpade, Sonali Kulkarni and many others.
