He said, “The life of living legend Shri Murlikant Petkar has not only made me a stronger person but also instilled the belief that if you can dream it, you can achieve it…nothing is impossible.” Earlier mummy used to say, ‘Son, go to the gym’ but nowadays the situation is such that she has to call and say, ‘Son, come back from the gym’ (Earlier my mother used to say, ‘Son, go to the gym’, but nowadays she calls me and asks me to come back from the gym).”

‘Chandu Champion’ co-producer and director Kabir Khan spoke to IndiaToday.in about Kartik Aaryan’s big transformation. When asked how closely he worked with Kartik on this transformation, Kabir Khan said, “Every minute, because it was not an easy transformation. It was not an easy journey. I had to engage a huge team of physical trainers, physiotherapists, dieticians, boxing coaches, swimming coaches and wrestling coaches. It was a huge team. And really, for 1.5 years, Kartik lived the life of an athlete. He would wake up early in the morning, go to the gym, eat and then go for a boxing session. Then come back and sleep. We had to keep a track of his sleep as well.”

Kabir Khan also revealed how Kartik, who earlier suffered from insomnia, now sleeps for eight hours, thanks to ‘Chandu Champion’. “When I met him, he had insomnia and would sleep for four hours. I told Kartik ‘For this journey, if you don’t sleep for at least eight hours, there’s no point in doing this journey.’ He (Kartik) says, ‘For this character, my life fell apart’. Today he is someone who sleeps for eight hours, pays attention to everything, and leads a very fit lifestyle,” he said.

‘Chandu Champion’ will be released on June 14.
