Actress Celina Jaitley’s ongoing efforts to secure the release of her brother from custody in the UAE advanced with a significant order of the Delhi High Court last week. Jaitley’s brother, Major Vikrant Jaitley, a former Special Forces commando, has been detained in the UAE since September 2025. The court’s latest direction has allowed the appointment of a UAE-based law firm to represent him, marking a significant development in the case.

The case has attracted attention due to the actor continuously seeking answers from the authorities regarding the reasons the circumstances of his brother’s detention. The Delhi High Court has also issued a query to the Central government, asking whether it is possible for officials or family members to interact with Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitley during his period of detention in the UAE, ANI reported. For context, last week the Delhi High Court directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to issue necessary orders to appoint law firm Al Marri Partners to represent Celina Jaitley’s brother, Major (Retd) Vikrant Jaitley in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The company has agreed to handle the matter free of charge.

The name of the firm was proposed by the actor’s lawyer, Raghav Kakkar, advocates Madhav Agarwal and Suradhish Vats. The court was told that Al Marri Partners is willing to represent Major (Retd) Vikrant Jaitley on a pro bono basis and has independently obtained the details of the case.

Before this, Delhi High Court directs Ministry of External Affairs to appoint a nodal officer To coordinate with authorities in the UAE.
