Selina’s post comes shortly after this Delhi High Court issued notice to the Central GovernmentMajor Vikrant Kumar Jaitley was asked to submit a status report within four weeks.
The family has now sought help from the government after claiming that Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitley has been detained in Abu Dhabi without proper legal or medical aid. Advocate Raghav Kakar, representing Celina Jaitley, said, “A nodal officer has been appointed to help the petitioner and her brother communicate, give them effective legal aid, keep us updated on the status of the case… These steps will help us secure their release. It will go a long way in strengthening relations between the UAE and India,” underlining the lack of clarity about the reasons for the detention.
The High Court order appointing a nodal officer and seeking a formal update is an important step in the legal process. The government is expected to provide a detailed account of the actions being taken to address the family’s concerns and clarify the status of Major Vikrant Kumar Jaitley.
Celina Jaitley had earlier addressed the crisis in a detailed post, writing, “For a year I have been searching for answers for you. Now I pray to our respected government to fight for you, to bring you back safely. My government, the only entity I trust, is the Government of India, and I know they will do everything to protect this fourth generation soldier, son, grandson and great-grandson of war veterans who have given everything, their entire youth, in the service of our nation.
