Nothing co-founder Carl Pei says that the company does not want people to stick to their phones all the time-especially as the brand has launched its most expensive device so far. Talk to Bloomberg After the launch of Nathing Phone 3, Pei explained that the smartphones were originally created to promote creativity and productivity, not to encourage endless scrolling. “It was a bicycle for the mind,” he said, how the smartphones were once a useful tool like a personal computer. But over time, people have become used to picking up their phones and getting distracted. PEI admitted that he himself says, “Sometimes when I have to respond to an important message, I just have to go to my social media and later scroll a little.”
The new phone 3, priced at Rs 79,999, is not the biggest step in premium space so far. It is being marketed as a major product-one that aims to compete directly with the top-end offer from Apple and Samsung. But when the phone comes with all the bells and CT-a Snapdragon 8S General 4 chip, a 6.67-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, and triple 50-megapixel rear cameras-Pei insists that the target does not have to depend more on their phones, but to help them to help them. He says that this idea is to keep users associated with important things that they constantly check their screen.
Nothing for design still plays a big role. The Phone 3 keeps the company’s signature back transparent, now updated with a new “Gliff Matrix” that is made of hundreds of programmable micro LEDs. This is to help users manage information in a more subtle, less distracted manner. There is also a glowing red light that comes when camera recording, and a new round button to control gliff functions.
PEI also touched how AI fits in their plans. Although nothing has been focused on building its own language model, it is searching for smart ways to apply AI on the phone. “We really want to be able to understand users, then to automate the smartphone use as much as possible,” he said.
The phone moves nothing on Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.5, and it includes AI equipment such as the required location and universal phone search. PEI says that most of the phones are no longer in India, and the phone 3 is being exported from India to America.
This year is expected to be a hit of $ 1 billion with growing user base and revenue, PEI says that the company is negotiating for more funding – but at this time “nothing to announce”.
