All We Imagine as Light won the Grand Prix Award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
The Malayalam film released for the first time in India after actor-producer Rana Daggubati’s production house, Spirit Media, released the film in Kerala this September. It will now be screened as the opening film during the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on October 18.
Originally a co-production between India and France, the film was released in France on 2 October.
Kapadia, who created history by winning the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes earlier this year, shared her excitement about the release of her film in India, “I am very excited for the release in India this November! I hope a lot of People will come to see it, “It’s an amazing feeling for any filmmaker,” the director said in a statement, according to a PTI report.
All We Imagine as Light revolves around the story of two nurses from Kerala, Prabha and Anu, who live together in Mumbai. It stars Kani Kusruti and Divya Prabha in lead roles.
