The Cannes Film Festival 2025 has officially began in the beautiful French city of Cannes, which is located on the magnificent coasts of the French Riviera. In the next 12 days, the 78th edition of the festival will bring the best world cinema under one roof. From head-turning red carpet to world premiere and screening, the event has a lot for cinema buffers.
On Tuesday, May 13, the Film Festival closed with its inauguration ceremony, which made headlines for several reasons. This year’s jury panel, Hong Song-Su, Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, Alba Rohrwakar, Diado Hamadi, Payal Kapadia, Leola Slimani, and Carlos Reygadas meet the jury president Juliet Binoche as well as hands-on.

Leonardo Dickaprio presented honorary Palme D’Or to Robert de Niro
Leonardo Dickaprio took a stage to present honorary Palme D’Or to famous actor Robert de Niro. Both hugged the stage for the prestigious moment. In his acceptance speech, D Nero said, “Tonight, and for the next 11 days, we show our strength and commitment by celebrating art in this magnificent festival. Liberte, égalité, Fraternité.”
Quentin Tartino makes stunning appearance
Quentin Tartino announced that the film festival is “officially open” in the most dramatic manner. The crowd was happy as the beginning of the film festival at the opening ceremony. Before taking the stage, he went to the red carpet with his Ladilov, Daniella pick.

Halle Berry had to change the final-minute for its opening ceremony due to the new rules, banning nudity and banning the “highly voluntary” clothes on the red carpet. Previously, she was planning to wear a Gaurav Gupta gown with a long train.
