According to nutritionist Amita Gadre, diabetics can consume coconut water, but only with the right dietary choices. For those who don’t know, 200 ml of coconut water contains 40-50 calories and 10 grams of carbs. A cup of tea/coffee with milk has 40-60 calories and the same number of carbs as coconut water. However, the number of calories and carbs depends on the type of ingredients you use.

Diabetics can drink coconut water, but since it is high in carbohydrates, make sure to take it with a good source of protein or fat-rich food. Peanuts, almonds or roasted chickpeas can be some popular and easy options. So, if you have diabetes, you should not stop yourself from drinking coconut water but rather consume these foods to prevent a sudden spike in your blood sugar.
