Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman presented the Union Budget 2025, in which important initiatives started to support economic development and inclusion. One of the major announcements was proposed to set up the Makhana Board in Bihar. The move aims to strengthen the Makhana industry and support local farmers. Makhana, also known as Foxes, is an important crop in Bihar, widely grown and consumed. The ‘One District One Product’ scheme has already helped the farmers, and the Makhana Research Center has been recognized as a national institution. Makhana has also received a geographical signal (GI) tag, which increases its market value.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development, Sitarman said:
