BTS member Suga, also known as Min Yoongi, was accused of driving an electric scooter while intoxicated on the night of August 6. The rapper and producer, who is currently serving his military time as a social worker, was reportedly on his way back home from work when he collapsed on the road while riding. A breath test revealed that the BTS member was intoxicated and he was fined.

While the police are investigating the incident, BigHit Music, the agency that manages Suga, has issued a statement apologising on Suga’s behalf. Later, Suga also apologised to fans on the social media platform Weverse. The statement offered an unconditional apology and assured that there was no damage to property or life due to the accident.

Doubt

Suga wrote, “Hello, I’m Suga. I’m feeling very heavy and sorry to come to you with disappointment. After drinking at the dinner table last night, I rushed home on an electric kickboard. I violated road traffic laws without realizing that I cannot use an electric kickboard when drunk because of the comfortable idea of being close to home. In the process of putting the electric kickboard at the front door of the house, I got lonely, and there was a police officer around me, so I took a breath test. My license was revoked and fined.”

He said, “No people or facilities were harmed in the process, but I would like to bow down and apologize to everyone because this is inexcusable. I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my careless and wrong behavior, and I will be more careful with my actions so that this does not happen in the future.”

BigHit Music also released a similar statement, saying, “We apologize for disappointing many people due to the artist’s inappropriate behavior. We will receive appropriate action from the workplace for this behavior that caused social controversy. We will be more careful to prevent this from happening in the future.”

Suga enlisted in September 2023 and will return in June 2025. Prior to enlisting, the musician held an Asia tour following the release of his solo album “D-Day.”
