BTS’ Suga undergoes first round of police interrogation after drink-driving
BTS rapper Suga appeared at the Yongsan Police Station for questioning regarding his drunk driving case.
Min Yoon-gi, popularly known as Suga of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, appeared at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on Friday, August 23, for the first time for questioning in connection to his driving under the influence (DUI) case.
The incident has garnered a lot of attention domestically and internationally, with the star reportedly driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
Suga arrived at the police station at around 7:45 p.m., where a crowd of reporters and onlookers had gathered. The 31-year-old artist got out of his car and immediately addressed the media. According to Korean media outlets, Suga said, “I am very sorry. I truly regret disappointing my fans and the public. I will cooperate with the investigation. Once again, I apologize.”

The questioning could mark the start of a lengthy legal process. The allegations against Suga have surprised many, given his previously unblemished public image and his role as a member of BTS, a group known not just for their music but also for their positive influence and philanthropic efforts.
According to sources privy to the investigation, the police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation, which will include confirming witness statements, reviewing available CCTV footage, and conducting tests to determine his blood alcohol content at the time of the incident.
Suga is currently serving his mandatory military term for the South Korean Army.
