ARIRANG BTS leader RM injures ankle during rehearsal before live performance
Before ARIRANG’s comeback, BTS leader RM suffered an ankle injury. The return live is scheduled for March 21.

In an unexpected development ahead of one of the most anticipated concerts of the year, BTS member and leader RM has restricted on-stage participation during BTS The Comeback Live. Arirang, scheduled for March 21.
BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed an update on March 20, revealing that RM suffered an ankle injury during rehearsals the day before. After a detailed medical examination, he was diagnosed with an accessory umbilical sprain, partial ligament tear and talus contusion, an injury that involves ligament damage and swelling.

According to the agency, RM has been advised to wear a cast and strictly limit movement for at least two weeks to focus on recovery. While the BTS leader reportedly expressed a strong desire to perform in full at the symbolic comeback stage in Gwanghwamun, the final decision was made in consultation with medical professionals.

The company said his choreography and overall stage movements would be “partially limited” to prevent the injury from becoming serious.
This means that while RM will still appear on stage and engage with fans, his performances will not involve full physical participation. As soon as the announcement was made, fans expressed their concern online and wished him a speedy recovery.
The announcement comes just hours after BTS released their fifth studio album Arirang, their first group comeback in nearly four years. The March 21 live event, which is set to be streamed globally, is billed as a historic comeback not only for the group, but for fans around the world who have been waiting for their reunion.
Despite the setback, BIGHIT MUSIC reassured fans that RM is committed to being present and connecting with the audience. The remaining members continue preparations, with the company promising a “heartfelt show” that reflects the importance of this moment.
