Netflix and Shondaland have cast actor Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) girlfriend in their hit romantic series ‘Bridgerton.’ The Korean-Australian actor will play Sophie Beckett, better known as the ‘Lady in Silver’ in Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton book ‘An Offer from a Gentleman’, on which Season 4 of the show is based.

The news was first reported by Diversity, In which it has been confirmed that Ha will enter the ‘Bridgerton’ universe as the new lady of the house in the Cinderella-inspired story. Official confirmation from the show’s makers and the streaming platform is still awaited.

Despite being new to Regency era dramas, Yerin Ha is not new to acting and has appeared in several popular shows and films. Her big claim to fame is playing the role of Quan Ha in the Paramount+ science fiction action show ‘Halo’, which was adapted from the video game franchise of the same name, and ran for 17 episodes between 2022 and 2024. Ha was also seen in the 2022 horror film ‘Sisi’, the 2019 crime drama ‘Reef Break’, and other TV projects including ‘Tropo’ and ‘Bad Behavior’.

‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 is not the only new project in her kitty right now. In fact, before it is ready for public viewing, Ha will be seen in the 2025 miniseries ‘The Survivors’ alongside ‘Late Night with the Devil’ fame Ian Bliss. One of her most anticipated projects is ‘Dune: Prophecy’, which will release in November this year. She plays Young Kasha in the science-fiction spinoff show.

Yerin Ha has been active in the industry for a few years now. ‘Bridgerton Season 4’ is one of the biggest opportunities of her career, especially since she has been vocal about Southeast Asian representation in popular series and films. In an interview Australian Vogue In 2019, she expressed her desire to play a ‘romantic lead’ in a major project soon. She said, “Hopefully there will come a time when we can actually see (people from different backgrounds) playing the role of the girlfriend, the romantic lead, but in my opinion, the audience is still not used to seeing so much diversity on screen or stage.”

In the same interview, she also talked about coming from a famous acting family in Korea. Ha’s grandmother, Son Sook, is a popular actor in South Korea. Talking about carrying forward her family’s legacy, she said, “My grandmother is an actor and my parents met each other in acting school, so I’ve always grown up with the knowledge of what theater and the screen are, so it’s something I’ve always been interested in.”

In ‘Bridgerton Season 4’, Ha will play Sophie Beckett, the illegitimate daughter of an earl and one of his maids. After her father’s death, she is raised in a home where there is no love, the father never accepts her as his daughter. Her stepmother and sisters treat her like a maid. Things change when she meets Benedict at the masquerade ball hosted by the Bridgertons.

It is not yet known if the producers are planning to make any changes to Quinn’s original story in the book. Oh! And you can’t find Yerin Ha on any social media platform. She doesn’t seem to have an account yet.
