Casting director Kelly Valentine Hendry has received “the most incredible videos, unsolicited” from actresses eager to play upcoming roles in Bridgerton season 4. She revealed this to the host of the “Should I Delete This?” podcast last week. She claimed that she constantly has to go through and delete messages from her inbox, explaining that “90 percent” of them are spam sent by fans.
Bridgerton casting director receives unwanted sex tape
Kelly Valentine Hendry, casting director for the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, revealed she has been flooded with unsolicited auditions from fans for the show’s upcoming fourth season. During her appearance on the Should I Delete That? podcast, Hendry revealed her inbox is flooded with explicit audition videos, some of which she described as almost sex tapes.
“It happens every day… I get the most incredible videos, unsolicited,” Hendry told podcast hosts Em Clarkson and Alex Light. “It’s basically sex.”
“It’s not actual sex, but it’s pretty impressive. … It’s not nude photos, but it’s not that far off.”
Hendry said that many hopeful actors were aiming to play Sophie Beckett, even though the character has not been officially confirmed for the series. Of the unusual presentations, Hendry recalled receiving an audition tape that showed a large banner of a woman in period costume, which was described as “heavy-handed” and large enough to hang from “scaffolding”.
Bridgerton, known for its erotic scenes, recently launched its third season on Netflix. The latest installment focuses on the evolving relationship between Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton), showing their journey from friends to lovers.
Bridgerton season 4: What we know so far
In April 2021, Netflix announced the renewal of Bridgerton for a third and fourth season. Although information about the upcoming season is limited, writer Julia Quinn has confirmed to PEOPLE that preparations are currently underway. These preparations include deciding which member of the Bridgerton family’s romantic journey will be highlighted.
According to actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope and Luke Newton’s Colin in Season 3, both actors are set to reprise their roles in Season 4. Speaking to The Wrap, she expressed her excitement: “They’ve told us we’re coming back for Season 4, which is lovely… It’ll be exciting. (We’ll) be back and definitely have some fun.”
Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey have also shared their hopes of returning for Season 4 during a press meeting at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival in Monaco on June 15. Although no other cast members have been officially confirmed, it is believed that Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Ruth Gemmell, Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson and Hannah Dodd, who joined the cast in Season 3, will return. Also, Massali Baduza, who appeared in a surprise role at the end of Season 3, is expected to return.
Fans should expect a wait of about two years between Season 3 and Season 4, which means the next season will likely premiere in 2026. Show creator Jess Brownell clarified to The Hollywood Reporter in June that they are trying to release seasons more quickly. However, he added that each season requires eight months of filming, followed by editing and dubbing in multiple languages. In addition, the writing process is lengthy, resulting in a two-year production cycle. While efforts are underway to accelerate the timeline, this timeline remains the current standard.
While the specific focus of Bridgerton season 4 and the Julia Quinn novel that follows hasn’t been officially revealed, the script is already in its early stages. Fans speculate that Benedict’s story may be featured, but Francesca’s social beginnings, which have been highlighted in the current season, could also take center stage.
The number of episodes in Season 4 has not been confirmed yet, but since the previous seasons had eight episodes each, it is likely that Season 4 will follow the same pattern.
