The family-friendly sitcom The Brady Bunch was a huge hit, becoming a household name in the 1960s. The show, which ran successfully for five seasons, revolves around “the misadventures of a large family uniting when a widower and a widow get married”, according to the synopsis. When Brady, a widower architect and father of three, falls in love with a widowed woman named Carol who has three daughters of her own, their marriage turns into a strange family affair.

In an interview with US Weekly, Barry Williams, who played the eldest son, Greg, revealed that the young actors went through the same dating pool. “We all connect with each other at one point or another. Not necessarily when we’re making a movie,” he told the outlet.

The actor revealed that he has dated Maureen McCormick, who plays Brady’s eldest daughter, and Chris Knight, who plays the middle son. He also worked with Eve Plum, who played the family’s middle daughter. Finally, the youngest of the group, Bobby and Cindy, played by Michael Lookinland and Susan Olsen, are also connected offscreen.

However, despite the offscreen romance, Williams always had his eyes on Florence Henderson, who played his mother Carol on the show. In fact, in his 1992 autobiography, Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg, he talked about his massive crush on his old co-star.

The actor also gave details about his “date” with Henderson. She found a singer visiting Copacabana near Beverly Hills and asked the actress to go on a date with him. “He said, ‘Okay,’ so I was thrilled. And now for me, it was a date,” he said.

However, he was recognized among the crowd and people were whispering about him. Williams admitted it was “weird”, but talked about the singer, “his orchestra, his band”, etc. “And it gave me an idea of what that life would look like at the end of the date,” he added. As far as the actor was concerned, the highlight of the night was the kiss he shared with Henderson. “I went in for a little kiss and she was nice enough to respond to it, so it was a nice little kiss.” He confessed.
