Brad Pitt has issued a statement after a French woman was defrauded of €800,000 by a man impersonating Pitt. The actor’s team urged fans to “not respond to unsolicited online outreach”, especially from actors who have no social media presence.
The story takes place in February 2023 when Anne, 53, was on a ski trip to Tignes and received a message on Instagram from an account posing as Pitt’s mother Jane Etta Pitt. A day later, she received a message from another account claiming to be an actor and the two became instant friends.
The alleged Brad Pitt account sent poems and declarations of love to Anne, leading her to believe that the two were in a long-distance relationship. The timing was opportune as Anna, married to a millionaire, was going through a difficult period in her relationship.
While the man identifying himself as Pitt avoided calls, he sent videos and photos generated by artificial intelligence to Anne to assure her of his identity and his love for her. He even asks her to marry him.

Anne’s divorce was finalized soon after and she received compensation of 7,75,000 euros. At the same time, fake Pitt shared doctored photos of him in a hospital, asking Anne for money for treatment for alleged kidney cancer. He said that his bank accounts have been blocked due to his ongoing divorce case with Angelina Jolie.
“I feel sad doing this, but I tell myself I could save a man’s life,” she said on the show “Sept a Huet”, broadcast on local news channel TF1 on Sunday (January 12) evening.
Several months later, in 2024, when Anne sees news of Pitt’s relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, she realizes that she has been deceived. Anne is in hospital, being treated for severe depression.
After the news made headlines, Pitt’s rep addressed the situation and shared a statement with E! news. The spokesperson said on January 15, “It’s terrible that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connections with celebrities, but it’s an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have no social media presence.” Not there.”
This is not the first time that ‘Brad Pitt’ has cheated someone. In September 2023, Spanish police arrested five men accused of defrauding two women of 325,000 euros by posing as Brad Pitt through online and WhatsApp messages.
