Hollywood’s IT couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are embroiled in a long struggle to finalize their divorce. An exclusive source close to the Fight Club star told PEOPLE magazine that the stars “are unable to find a solution and finalize the divorce”, nearly 8 years after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. In addition to this tough divorce battle, the two are also involved in a lawsuit regarding their French vineyard Chateau Miraval.
Reflecting further on their relationship, the source confirmed that much of the resentment stemmed from their very different approaches to parenting. The two share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. “A big reason for their unhappiness before Angelina filed for divorce was their frequent fights over the upbringing of their children,” the insider told the outlet.
Pitt and Jolie were one of the industry’s most loved couples, collectively known as Brangelina. They got together in 2004 and a decade later, tied the knot in a quiet and intimate ceremony in the French village of Correns. The tragedy came to light when Jolie filed for divorce on September 20, 2016.
According to the source, the two have a very different approach to life in general. Jolie was born into a Hollywood family where her parents were big screen stars Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, while Pitt was born in Missouri where his parents were industry outsiders, which shaped the differences between the two stars in the way they raised their children. “Brad wanted a structured life for them, with a set education curriculum. Angie wanted them all to find themselves and figure out what excites them and sparks passion,” the source told People.
Jolie had a great time at the 81st Venice Film Festival, where she attended the premiere of her upcoming film Maria, a biopic on the life of opera singer Maria Callas, which received a standing ovation that lasted a total of 8 minutes. After this lengthy applause, the star cried, and this reaction was caught on camera, which has since gone viral. Pitt is also set to attend the festival, though, for the premiere of his film Wolves with co-star George Clooney on September 1.
