Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is releasing in theaters this Friday, December 5. The big-ticket entertainer is unexpectedly facing strong opposition from Dhanush and Kriti Sanon starrer Tere Ishq. The musical romantic drama turned out to be a surprise package at the box office, which may eventually become a matter of concern for Dhurandhar. But the box office works in the most unexpected ways!
Since Tere Ishq Mein is doing well at the box office, its distributor, Anil Thadani (AA Films) is expected to do well in the second week as well. Single screen owners are keen to share one show Tere Ishq Mein, while the rest are keen to share with the new release Dhurandhar. However, Jio Studios has categorically refused to share even a single show. The Dharandhar team has clearly said that they want complete dominance on the single screen for the entire initial week.
An intense battle for display is also going on in multiplex chains. AA Films demands Thus, both parties are struggling to find a middle path.
Both distributors are trying their best to get the best performance, and as a result advance bookings are not opening fully. The entire issue between Dhurandhar and Tere Ishq Mein is expected to be resolved by Thursday afternoon and only then the booking of all the shows will open.
For those unaware, Tere Ishq Mein Rs. Has emerged as a clean hit venture with earnings of Rs. 65 crores in 5 days of theatrical run. The film is on its way to reach Rs.1 crore. Crossed the 100 crore mark by the end of its box office journey. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s film is looking to open around Rs 200 crore. 14 crore to Rs. 18 crores, which is not fair to the cast and cost involved in the project.
