Directed by AR Murugadoss, Alexander and Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna and others, have faced lump sum rejection at the box office. The film was opened on Sunday with average collection in the area around Rs 25 crore and then saw a slight increase on Eid. After the decline in the collection from Eid on stale Eid, the film is showing very large and unprecedented drops. The film managed to pay only Rs 2.75 crore on its first Friday and was not expected to increase for the festive-procession on Saturday.
Alexander has managed a similar collection on Saturday and it is worrying on Saturday. Even on Saturday, films were rejected from Friday, but here, it is not so. One can argue that Friday had a slight EID effect, but it is very low to differentiate the large plan of things. Regardless of how the film has been obtained, there should have been an increase on Saturday.
The cumulative collection of Alexander after the week 1 (Sunday to Saturday) is Rs 89.25 crore. Considering a similar collection as Saturday on Sunday, the Salman-Rashmika film will stand at Rs 92 crore after Sunday. There will not be much collection for Alexander after Sunday and it is safe to say that Biggi will reduce India’s net collection by Rs 100 crore. Keeping in mind the high average ticket prices, the total legs for the film will be less than 5 million.
Alexander got the most widespread release for Hindi release and at the top, it also got a single festive weekend for a rake-in collection. In order to promote the festival or in a clash scenario, no one can even imagine how sad the result of the film would be. The result is already bad but it could have been worse.
Alexander has not performed well even internationally, the final collection is expected to be in the area around USD 6.5 million. Thus, Alexander’s global collections will grow under the gross of Rs 170 crore. For comparison, even someone’s life earned Rs 175 crore worldwide, with a very controlled budget and very difficult dramatic market.
