Religion Productions is a banner that has given a platform to talents from across the country. With more than four decades of its appearance in the industry, religion has given 24 directors a chance to start their feature film direction for the big screen. One such director is Karan Singh Tyagi, who makes his debut with Kesari Chapter 2, in which Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey are starring.
As Kesari Chapter 2, under the leadership of Akshay Kumar and directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, soon released, let’s take a look at the last five religious films played by directors for the first time and how he was received by the audience.
1. Yodha
The best action thriller, led by Siddharth Malhotra, was dramatically released in 2024. After the direction of the film, the director duo Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha also acted in Rashi Khanna and Disha Patani. The film met the audience with mixed reviews and collected Rs 32 crore, which proved to be a failure at the box office.
2. Gunjan Saxena: Kargil girl
This biopic of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena was released in 2020. While it was planned as a dramatic release, it was to make a digital premiere on Netflix due to the Kovid -19 epidemic. The film was directed by Debu Sharan Sharma, in which he was prominent with Janhvi Kapoor. It was obtained with critics as well as mixed for positive reviews from the audience.

3. Bhut – Part One: Reported Ship
The horror thriller movie Bhuta was dramatically released in 2020, starring Debut Bhanu Pratap Singh. Vicky Kaushal was depicted in the film and it was later converted into a franchise, but due to the failure of the first part, future plans were sheltered. It collected Rs 30.75 crore and became a flop at the box office.
4. Good nudez
Memorable comedy-drama Good Nudez marked the first full-length film of director Raj Mehta’s career. It featured a famous artists of Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani. The film collected a Bharat Net of Rs 196.25 crore and became a superhit.
5. Itfeek
The popular thriller ITTEFAQ was released in 2017, starring Siddharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshay Khanna in the lead. The film was directed by Abhay Chopra and co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s red chilli entertainment. Although it was obtained with a positive reception among critics, the film unfortunately collects Rs 27.5 crore to become a box office flop.
