Are you looking for an affordable speaker that not only sounds good but looks good too? Bolt’s new retro amp the X60 deserves your attention. This speaker from the domestic brand not only gives good sound but also has a vintage design. In fact, if you’re a fan of Marshall speakers – which is also not easy on your pocket – you’ll immediately recognize the design similarity to the Marshall Middleton series of Bolt speakers. Bonus: The Retro Amp X60 costs a lot less than the Marshall speakers. It is available in the market for Rs 3,499.
But it is not just about show off. The Retro Amp X60 is equipped with dual dynamic drivers capable of delivering up to 60W of peak audio output. It also has Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity, promising up to 14 hours of playtime, and offers quite a number of port options – which, I have to admit, I liked and I was really impressed to see, especially Considering the market price of these speakers.
However, before you click that purchase button, let me tell you that although the speakers are affordable and stylish, they are not flawless. And in this India Today Tech review, I’ll sort out the successes and failures of the Retro Amp X60 to help you decide if this is the speaker you should buy.
Vintage design and solid construction
The Retro Amp X60 has that distinctive vintage look that immediately catches your attention. The design isn’t exactly unique as premium brands like Marshall already offer vintage-themed speakers. However, they also come with a hefty price tag. In contrast, the Retro Amp X60 is much easier on the pocket while offering the same design language. It has a body made of leather on three sides and a plastic mesh in the front. However, both the leather and mesh feel well made and of good quality.

All controls and ports sit on the top of the speaker. The panel has a brass-like finish, which makes it look a bit premium. Everything about the design feels solid. That said, the quality of the buttons and volume knobs feel a little less refined. However, overall, the build quality of the device is still impressive at its price.
As far as its portability is concerned, it is not compact and it is not exactly lightweight, but considering its size, it is still quite manageable to carry around. Since we compared it to the Marshall Middleton above, we can tell you that it is much lighter than them. But if you want an affordable speaker that can serve as a stylish design piece for your shelf, the Retro Amp X60 fits the bill.

Good sound but not for bass lovers
Looks are important, but a speaker’s real job is to deliver sound, and the Retro Amp X60 does it well – mostly. I played a variety of songs on the speaker while working in the kitchen or having evening coffee on the balcony, and the speaker has been my musical companion for the past few weeks. It provides clear and crisp sound. However, it struggles to deliver when it comes to bass-heavy songs.
Volume is another area where I felt the speaker fell short of expectations. Although the sound quality remains clear, maximum volume is not as loud as I had hoped. For comparison, the maximum volume is only slightly higher than my iPhone 16 Plus. This means that in house parties with 7-8 people, you will not be able to get the house party atmosphere. However, for casual music listening, the Retro Amp X60 works perfectly well.
One feature I really liked about the Retro Amp X60 is the range of connectivity options. It also includes a Type-C port, AUX, USB, an SD card slot, and even a dedicated mic port. This means you can connect a mic and use the speakers for a karaoke session, which is a fun bonus.

Now, what about the battery? The Boult promises up to 14 hours of playtime, and in my experience, real-world battery performance is pretty close to that. I played songs non-stop for about 12-13 hours over the weekend and sang songs of all my moods and it went on all day.
Is the Retro Amp X60 Speaker Worth Your Money?
If you’re looking for a good speaker with good sound quality and a vintage piece to add to your audio collection, the Retro Amp X60 is a great choice. It’s really great for those casual music sessions, whether you’re using it to relax with relaxing music, or taking it out with you. In most scenarios, the speaker delivers balanced sound. It also adds a touch of vintage aesthetics wherever you place it and that’s what we love about it. The multiple connectivity options on the device are like a cherry on this musical cake.
In our opinion, the Boult Retro Amp X60, priced at Rs 3,499, will meet the needs of most users. Unless, of course, you’re specifically in the market for a speaker in this budget that offers bass-heavy sound. In that case, the Bolt X180 Sound Bar is something you can consider.
It is worth noting that Boult Retro Amp X60 has been listed on the company’s website for Rs 17,999. However, if you are looking to buy the speaker, we recommend checking out the deals on Flipkart, the official e-commerce partner for the product, where it is selling for Rs 3,499 – a discount of 80 percent.
