Bougainvillea Trailer: Jyotirmayee, Fahadh Faasil promise an intense thriller
Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad, promises to offer a gripping psychological thriller featuring a stellar cast, including Kunchacko Boban, Jyotirmayee and Fahadh Faasil.

The trailer of Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad, takes us straight into an unstable, mysterious world. Right from the start, the 2:11-minute teaser creates a tense atmosphere, hinting towards a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing at every turn. Jyotirmoyee plays the role of Reethu, a woman suffering from memory loss who becomes increasingly attracted to bougainvillea flowers. These vibrant flowers serve as a haunting reflection of her fragile mental state, and her immersion in painting suggests a desperate search for clarity and expression amid the chaos of her mind.
Kunchacko Boban plays her husband, epitomizing a character who watches over her with quiet intensity. Their relationship is filled with tension and uncertainty, and the trailer skillfully shrouds their dynamics in mystery, adding to the overall intrigue. The narrative takes a darker turn with the introduction of Fahadh Faasil as a police officer investigating a series of brutal murders targeting young women in the area. His entry raises the stakes, making it clear that the lives of Reethu, her husband and the investigating officer are on a collision course that promises to expose hidden secrets and psychological tensions.
Amal Neerad, who is known for his unique storytelling, has made a shift from his previous action dramas to a more psychological, slow-paced approach with Bougainvillea. The scenes are dark and moody, reminiscent of his acclaimed film Bheeshma Parva, but this new venture promises a different kind of intensity – one that is more cerebral and layered, with suspense that builds as the story unfolds. It keeps increasing continuously.
Sushin Shyam’s haunting background score is a key element of the trailer, perfectly complementing the eerie atmosphere of the film. Known for his influential work on Kumbalangi Nights and Virus, his music here adds depth, builds tension and gives a distinctive edge to the psychological thriller.
With Anand C Chandran’s stunning cinematography, Vivek Harshan’s expert editing and Joseph Nellikal’s intricate production design, Bougainvillea promises to be a visually captivating film.
It will be released in theaters on October 17.
