Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 film Border, was officially announced for 2024. The war drama stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The shooting started in December last year. Now, Varun has joined the team and they have started filming in Jhansi.
Today, on January 16, 2025, the makers of the upcoming film Border 2 shared a picture of Varun Dhawan on their social media platforms as he started shooting for the film. In the photo, the actor posed with producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Channa and director Anurag Singh.
Dressed in a gray T-shirt, blue jeans and a black leather jacket, Varun sported a moustache. He was holding the clapperboard of the film.
The caption of the post reads, “Action, patience and patriotism! Actor Varun Dhawan embarks on the #Border2 journey in the beautiful Cantonment areas of Jhansi with producer Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Channa and director Anurag Singh. The announcement video of Border 2 features Sunny Deol’s powerful voiceover. In the following months, he welcomed ‘Fauji’ Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty to the cast.
VD shared an emotional note on Instagram in which he expressed his feelings about being a part of the film. He said, “JP Dutta sir’s war epic is still one of my favorite films. Playing a role in Border 2 produced by JP sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very special moment in my career. And I got a chance to work with Sunny paaji, my hero, which made it even more special.”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, Bhushan Kumar and Krishna Kumar. This action-packed film will be released in theaters on January 23, 2026.
