સુરતમાં પાણીની ટાંકી ધરાશાયી થવાની ઘટના: સુરતના માંડવી તાલુકાના તડકેશ્વર ગામમાં લાખોના ખર્ચે બનેલી પાણીની ટાંકી તૂટી પડતા સમગ્ર રાજ્યમાં ખળભળાટ મચી ગયો છે. રાજ્ય સરકારે આ મામલે કડક વલણ અપનાવતા ત્રણ ઉચ્ચ અધિકારીઓને તાત્કાલિક અસરથી સસ્પેન્ડ કર્યા છે અને કોન્ટ્રાક્ટર-સુપરવિઝન કંપનીના 5 લોકોની ધરપકડ કરી છે.

માંડવી તાલુકાના તડકેશ્વર ગામમાં પાણીની ટાંકી ધરાશાયી થવા મામલે કોન્ટ્રાક્ટર કંપનીના 3 અને સુપરવિઝન કંપનીના 2 વ્યક્તિઓની ધરપકડ કરવામાં આવી છે. સમગ્ર મામલામાં કાર્યપાલક ઈજનેર જય ચૌધરી અને તત્કાલીન કાર્યપાલક ઈજનેર રજનીકાંત ચૌધરીને તાત્કાલિક અસરથી સસ્પેન્ડ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. તેમજ સંબંધિત નાયબ કાર્યપાલક ઈજનેરને ફરજ પરથી દૂર કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા.

શું હતી સમગ્ર ઘટના?

માંડવીના તડકેશ્વર ગામમાં આસપાસના 34 ગામોને પીવાનું શુદ્ધ પાણી પૂરું પાડવા માટે અંદાજિત ₹95 લાખના ખર્ચે વિશાળ પાણીની ટાંકી બાંધવામાં આવી છે. જો કે, જ્યારે તે પ્રથમ પાણીથી ભરવામાં આવ્યું હતું અને પૂર્ણ થયા પછી પરીક્ષણ કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું, ત્યારે આખું માળખું પત્તાના ઘરની જેમ તૂટી ગયું હતું. સદનસીબે આ અકસ્માતમાં કોઈ જાનહાની થઈ ન હતી પરંતુ સરકારી નાણાનો વેડફાટ અને ભ્રષ્ટાચારનો પર્દાફાશ થયો હતો.

દાખલારૂપ કાર્યવાહી કરવા આદેશ

આ ઘટનાના પડઘા ગાંધીનગર કેબિનેટ સુધી પડ્યા છે. ખુદ મુખ્યમંત્રી ભૂપેન્દ્ર પટેલે આ બાબતને ગંભીરતાથી લઈ જવાબદારો સામે દાખલારૂપ કાર્યવાહી કરવાનો આદેશ આપ્યો છે.

પાણી પુરવઠા મંત્રીએ એક નિવેદનમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “આ ખૂબ જ ગંભીર બેદરકારી છે. માત્ર સસ્પેન્શનથી કામ નહીં ચાલે; ભ્રષ્ટ એજન્સી અને જવાબદાર અધિકારીઓ સામે કાયદેસર પોલીસ કેસ કરવામાં આવશે. કોઈ પણ ગુનેગારને બક્ષવામાં આવશે નહીં.”

અત્યાર સુધીની સૌથી મોટી કાર્યવાહી

ફરજમાં ઘોર બેદરકારી દાખવનાર ત્રણ વરિષ્ઠ અધિકારીઓને તાત્કાલિક અસરથી સસ્પેન્ડ કરવામાં આવ્યા છે. બાંધકામ એજન્સીના જવાબદારોની ધરપકડ કરવા પ્રયાસો હાથ ધરાયા છે. સમગ્ર બાંધકામની ગુણવત્તા અને વપરાયેલી સામગ્રી ચકાસવા માટે એક ખાસ ટીમની રચના કરવામાં આવી છે.

ટેસ્ટીંગ દરમિયાન જ ટાંકીઓ તુટી જવાના બનાવમાં ઈજનેરો અને કોન્ટ્રાક્ટરોની મિલીભગત સામે આવી છે. 34 ગામના લોકો જે સુવિધાની રાહ જોઈ રહ્યા હતા તે સુવિધા ભ્રષ્ટાચારની ભેટ બની છે. સરકારે સ્પષ્ટ કર્યું છે કે આ કેસ ભવિષ્યમાં સરકારી કામમાં ગુણવત્તા સાથે સમાધાન કરનારાઓ માટે ચેતવણી તરીકે કામ કરશે.

Dario Amodei, who is the CEO of Anthropic, has criticized the US government’s decision to allow chipmakers like Nvidia to sell their powerful AI chips to China. Anthropic is the creator of the popular AI chatbot cloud and is backed by Amazon and Google. Speaking in Davos during the World Economic Forum, Amodei said the decision could have serious security implications for the US and compared the “sale” to a nuclear weapons trade with North Korea.

Highlighting the power of chips and AI in an interview with Bloomberg, Amodei said it is “crazy” that companies like Nvidia and AMD have been given the green light from the Trump administration to sell their AI chips to China after a brief pause. Nvidia and other chipmakers are still not allowed to sell their most powerful chips to China-based AI companies like Alibaba and DeepSeek, but allowing them to sell their second-best options could also be a threat to the US in terms of national security and the race for global dominance.

Chinese AI companies are only months behind US companies like Anthropic and OpenAI in terms of AI capabilities, warn Amodei and other AI pioneers like DMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and the worry is that, if they get access to the most powerful chips in the world, it will only accelerate their growth. The US currently holds an edge on hardware which gives it a competitive edge in AI as well.

Amodei said, “Imagine that 100 million people are smarter than any Nobel laureate. And it would be under the control of some country. So, I think it’s crazy.” He added, “It’s like selling nuclear weapons to North Korea.”

In the interview, Amodei warned about potential national security risks and the future of the US if China takes over the latest Nvidia or AMD chips. He said, “We are years ahead of China in terms of our ability to make chips. So, I think it would be a big mistake to ship these chips. The analogy I thought about was the incredible national security implications of building models that are essentially cognition, which is essentially intelligence.”

“The CEOs of these companies (like Nvidia) say it is the restrictions on chips that are holding us back. They say this clearly,” he said without naming names. He added, “I hope they change their mind about not sending our latest generation chips.”

Nvidia has argued that the US chip ban could encourage China to develop its own domestic alternatives, thereby excluding US chip companies from a huge market. In other words, it could be bad for business.

Last September, Amodei warned that US dominance in semiconductors is the country’s ultimate strategic advantage over China, and the AI chip ban is one area where Washington still holds a decisive edge. “Selling these chips to China is mortgaging our future as a country,” he said. On the semiconductor or chips front, he said at the Axios AI+DC summit last year, “It can control the destiny of nations. It can control the future of freedom and democracy.”

Rather than predicting mass job losses, the firm’s new Skills Change Index shows that AI will impact some roles far more than others, depending on the skills they rely on.

In a recent post, McKinsey said, “AI will not make most human skills obsolete, but it will change the way they are used.” The company said conversation and problem-solving will become more important as people increasingly work with AI agents and robots. These views are based on an analysis of approximately 6,800 skills and their exposure to automation over the next five years. Here’s the full story.

McKinsey Shares 6 Human Skills That Can Save Their Jobs From AI

At the bottom of the skill change index are those skills that remain difficult to automate, even as AI becomes more capable. These skills depend largely on judgment, negotiation and human decision making.

Problem solving is considered a safe skill because it involves assessing complex situations and making choices where there is no single right answer. Leadership is also important, as managing people, setting priorities, and handling accountability cannot be easily automated.

Conversations rely on trust, persuasion, and situational awareness, making them less susceptible to automation. Communication and customer relations skills also remain relatively safe, especially in roles that require understanding people and responding to their needs. Coaching and people development show similar resistance, because learning and development depend on personal guidance rather than fixed rules. Together, these six skills point to where human involvement is essential.

What to keep in mind?

McKinsey’s research does not suggest that jobs will disappear overnight. Instead, it indicates that tasks within jobs will change. In the firm’s midpoint scenario, many skills see an increase or decrease in automation risk, but very few are eliminated entirely. The study basically suggests that roles built primarily on routine execution will need to adapt, while roles focused on thinking, decision making and working with people are likely to remain relevant.

Where is India in the AI race? The International Monetary Fund (IMF) clearly believes that India belongs to second class countries after countries like America and China. But in a discussion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Indian IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clearly and emphatically refuted this notion. The minister, who was speaking to a panel that also included IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, said India is an AI power just like the US and China.

During the panel discussion, Georgieva suggested that India was lagging behind leading countries like the US and China in the AI field. But Minister Vaishnav strongly opposed the classification and questioned the basis of the IMF assessment, saying it was not in line with established global standards.

Vaishnav said, “I don’t know what the IMF criteria is, but Stanford ranks India third in the world for AI preparedness. I don’t think your classification is correct.” He said India should be seen as “clearly in the first group” of AI countries.

Supporting his argument, the minister cited Stanford University’s ranking, which assesses countries based on AI penetration, preparedness and talent. According to Vaishnav, these studies place India third globally in terms of AI preparedness and penetration and second in terms of AI talent. “Stanford ranks India third in terms of AI penetration, in terms of AI preparation, and in terms of AI talent, in fact in terms of AI talent, it is second,” he said, reiterating that the “second tier” label does not reflect India’s current situation.

Highlighting India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its AI ecosystem, India’s IT Minister also outlined the country’s comprehensive AI strategy, and emphasized that India is building capabilities across the entire value chain rather than focusing on isolated areas. He described India’s AI push as spanning “five layers in the AI architecture”, including applications, models, chips, infrastructure and energy. “We are working on all five layers, making very good progress on all five layers,” Vaishnav said.

Vaishnav’s comments come as India prepares to host the AI Summit next month, where the country is expected to showcase its progress in AI adoption, talent development and responsible innovation.

Speaking separately at Davos, the minister highlighted that India has already secured significant investment in the infrastructure needed to support AI, including data centres, compute capacity, semiconductors and power, with total investment in these sectors on track to cross $150 billion by the end of 2026.

નાસાના કોરિડોરમાં 27 વર્ષ પહેલાં શરૂ થયેલી સફર આજે સમાપ્ત થાય છે, જેમાં 608 દિવસની અવકાશ યાત્રા અને અસંખ્ય રેકોર્ડ્સ સાથે એક યુગનો અંત થાય છે. ભારતીય મૂળની સુનીતા વિલિયમ્સે એક યુગના અંતને ચિહ્નિત કરીને નિવૃત્તિની જાહેરાત કરી છે. સ્પેસ અને સ્પેસ વોકમાં મેરેથોન દોડીને દુનિયાને આશ્ચર્યચકિત કરનાર સુનિતા વિલિયમ્સે સાબિત કર્યું છે કે જો ઈરાદો મજબૂત હોય તો આકાશનું અંતર ઓછું લાગે છે.

60 વર્ષની સુનીતાએ 9 ડિસેમ્બર, 2006ના રોજ તેની પ્રથમ ઉડાન ભરી હતી. વિલિયમ્સે ફ્લાઇટ એન્જિનિયર તરીકે કામ કર્યું હતું અને તે સમયે કુલ 29 કલાક અને 17 મિનિટમાં ચાર સ્પેસવોક પૂર્ણ કરીને વિશ્વ રેકોર્ડ બનાવ્યો હતો.

છ વર્ષ પછી જુલાઈ 14, 2012 ના રોજ, તેણે તેનું બીજું મિશન શરૂ કર્યું. આ મિશન 127 દિવસ સુધી ચાલ્યું. આ મિશન દરમિયાન, વિલિયમ્સે સ્ટેશનના રેડિયેટરમાં એમોનિયા લીકને સુધારવા અને સ્ટેશનની સોલર એરે સિસ્ટમને પાવર કરતા ઘટકને બદલવા માટે ત્રણ સ્પેસવૉક કર્યા.

નિવૃત્તિ પર, સુનિતાએ કહ્યું, “અવકાશ મારી પ્રિય જગ્યા છે. મેં નાસામાં 27 વર્ષની અદ્ભુત કારકિર્દી કરી છે, અને હું ભવિષ્યના ચંદ્ર અને મંગળ મિશન વિશે ખૂબ જ ઉત્સાહિત છું.”

સુનિતા વિલિયમ્સના પિતાનો જન્મ ગુજરાતના મહેસાણા જિલ્લાના ઝુલસનમાં થયો હતો. બાદમાં તે યુનાઇટેડ સ્ટેટ્સ ગયો. તેઓ ન્યુરોએનાટોમિસ્ટ હતા. સુનિતાનો જન્મ ઓહાયોમાં થયો હતો. મહેસાણા અમદાવાદ હાઈવે પર રાજપુર પાસે આવેલું નાનકડું ઝુલસણ ગામ સુનિતા વિલિયમ્સનું પૈતૃક ગામ છે. સુનિતાના પિતા ડો.દીપકભાઈ પંડ્યાએ તેમનું બાળપણ અહીં વિતાવ્યું હતું. જો કે સુનીતા ગામમાં ઉછરી નથી, પણ ગામલોકો તેને પોતાની દીકરી કરતા વધારે પ્રેમ કરે છે.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil (TTT), starring Jeeva in the lead role, was released on January 15, 2026. Directed by Nitish Sahdev of Phalimi fame, the film took an impressive opening at the box office, despite clashing with Karthi’s Va Vaathiyar and Sivakarthikeyan starrer Parasakthi, emerging as an underdog.

The film opened well during the Pongal holidays and collected Rs 18.25 crore from Tamil Nadu, while Karnataka and Kerala contributed around Rs 1 crore each.

However, after the Pongal festival period ended, the film failed to maintain its momentum. Daily collections declined on weekdays this week, with figures ranging between Rs 1.5 to 1.75 crore, indicating weak audience retention and limited repeat value. The post-holiday trends are clearly below expectations for a film that needed strong weekend collections.

Despite a solid holiday start, mediocre weekday performance has limited Ziva Starr’s potential. Unless there are any notable changes in the upcoming weekend, the film is expected to end its first week in India with around Rs 20.25 crore.

Initially, despite clashes with Va Vaathiyar and Parasakthi, the film witnessed a notable surge during the festival days. The film received a positive response from audiences, with complimentary reviews further boosting its initial performance.

Man Shankar Var Prasad Garu donated Rs. Collected. Nearly 7 crore were recorded on Tuesday, a decline of 30 per cent from the previous day. The decline was at the expected level for two reasons: first, holiday growth is slowing in coastal Andhra, and second, weekday decline is generally sharper for big openers in Telugu states. With this, the total box office collection of the film in India stands at Rs. Approximately 192 crores.

The film has earned Rs 10 crore in overseas. 38 crore (USD 4.20 million), bringing its total worldwide gross to Rs. Approximately 230 crores. It has become the best grossing film of megastar Chiranjeevi’s career globally, surpassing Syera Narasimha Reddy. Same thing will happen in India also in a day or two.
