In a new interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pankaj Kapur was asked whether or not he had a communication gap with Shahid Kapoor and how he overcame it.
Pankaj Kapur said, “I don’t think so because thoda bhoj ajik umr me bachcha to aata hi hai, toh aapko yaad karna chahiye aap bhi isi hai umr se gujje hai aur apna period kya ki tha…toh aapko open karna chahiye (Because a child goes through a very awkward phase, so you should remember that you too have gone through the same phase and what your period was like…).”
Talking about his kids Shahid Kapoor, Sara Kapoor and Ruhan Kapoor, Pankaj revealed that he is quite open with them. Pankaj described himself as “like a friend” to them. The Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron actor credited this openness to his father, who shares a friendly bond with them.
Imbibing the values he got from his father, Pankaj said that he gave him the freedom to live his life the way he wanted, even if he didn’t understand it at the time. The Binny & Family actor said that he “never put obstacles in his way in making friends”.
The 70-year-old actor emphasised that the senior generation should accept the fact that today’s generation knows better than them except for experience and wisdom. He stressed that today’s generation should gain wisdom from their senior family members. On the other hand, parents/grandparents need to ensure that they try to adopt their thinking with “open hands”.
Binny & Family marks the debut of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan in her film debut. Apart from Anjini and Pankaj, the film also stars Rajesh Kumar and Himani Shivpuri. Directed by Sanjay Tripathi, the film will hit the theatres on September 20 this year.
