Bill Clinton appears repeatedly in the newly released Epstein files, including a hot tub photo examining her renewed relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Former President Bill Clinton features prominently in a newly released cache of Jeffrey Epstein investigation files that were released by the US Department of Justice on Friday (Dec 19), sparking new political and public scrutiny over the extent of his ties to the late financier and convicted sex offender.

Among the most striking materials is a photograph of Clinton lying nearly naked in a hot tub, with an unidentified woman sitting on her waist. The image, along with dozens of others, is part of thousands of records released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on November 19, mandating the disclosure of all unclassified DOJ material related to the investigation and prosecution of Epstein.

The publication triggered strong reactions, including from a former Clinton aide who described the moment as a political calculation.

“This is his calculation,” said the former aide. “If you turn on CNN, they talk about it. I get a million texts about it. People are like, ‘I can’t believe he was in the hot tub. Who’s that woman?’ … It’s just shocking.”

A comprehensive look at Epstein’s record

Clinton, now 79, is featured in numerous images contained in the files, including photographs showing her traveling on Epstein’s private jet, vacationing with Epstein in the United Kingdom and visiting Brunei, Thailand and Morocco. He also appears in a 2002 wedding photo of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

Other images show Clinton swimming in a pool with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein, who is now serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for sex-trafficking crimes. In another photo, Clinton has his arm around a young woman on a private aircraft, while her face is obscured by DOJ redactions. One image shows a woman sitting on Clinton’s lap in what is a private jet.

A separate album is labeled “Clinton Trips, NY, LA, London”, while another image shows Clinton visiting Winston Churchill’s World War II war room in London, surrounded by historic maps, telephones and wax figures representing British wartime officers.

Clinton also appears at dinner with Epstein, Maxwell, and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, Clinton and Jagger take a close-up photo of a woman whose face is blackened. Another photo shows Clinton and Epstein posing together in silk shirts in Brunei. One photograph shows Clinton on a plane with Michael Jackson.

Clinton’s prominence in the release, particularly as an initial review of the documents indicated few references to President Trump, sparked complaints from the political left that the DOJ had failed to fully comply with the law.

The Clinton camp pushes back

After the December 19 publication, Clinton’s chief of staff, Angel Urena, released a statement on X, contesting suggestions that the ad was intended to protect Clinton.

“The White House has not been hiding these files for months, only to dump them late Friday night to protect Bill Clinton,” Urena wrote, referring to the Trump administration. “This is about protecting themselves from what comes next, or protecting themselves from what they will try and hide forever.”

Urena cited comments to Vanity Fair by White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles that there was “no evidence” Clinton had made numerous trips to Epstein’s private island, Little St. James.

“There are two types of people,” Urena added. “The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light. The second group continued relations with him afterward. We are in the first.”

Urena concluded: “Everyone, especially Mega, expects answers, not scapegoats.”

Clinton has repeatedly denied any knowledge of or involvement in Epstein’s crimes.
