Dhurandhar is becoming a success at the box office and the film is on its way to earning Rs 20 crore. Earning of Rs 50 crore on second Saturday. By the end of the matinee show, the collections are running almost double that of Friday, and with the usual bounce during the evening and night shows, the film is expected to make Rs. The figure of 50 crores. But even if not, it’s going to be closer to the high-40s.
The rise from Friday will be around 60-65 percent, which is normally a strong surge, but at this level of trading, it is unprecedented. Progress was indicating even stronger growth, but longer run times naturally limit performance, leading to capacity constraints during prime hours and fewer walk-ups. This was evident with Animal, who saw a relatively small increase over the weekend for the same reason. However, Dhurandhar has managed to perform better.
This is once again going to be a record day for Hindi films, surpassing the previous best of Rs. 41 crores by Pushpa 2 (Hindi) and by a huge margin. The second weekend is on track to collect more than Rs. 130 crore, which makes it around Rs. 325 crore nett. In the second week easily Rs. Will cross. 200 crore nett.
Dhurandhar has now become a cultural phenomenon, creeping into mainstream media and conversations with references to real-life events and political topics. This is reminiscent of the director’s previous film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, which saw something similar happen. That film made Rs. Earned Rs 8 crore on the first day and later collected Rs 8 crore. 245 crore nett. This time the trend is not only better but also on a much larger scale.
The film is going to enjoy a huge period of Christmas-New Year holidays at the end of the month, which is considered to be the most lucrative window at the box office. The stage is all set for Dhurandhar to explode even more. There are many records on the table, including highest-grossing film of the year (Kantara: Chapter 1), highest-grossing original Hindi film of all time (Stree 2) and highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time (Jawaan).
