Edward Berger’s Conclave won the award for the outstanding British film at the BAFTA Awards held at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The film defeated top contenders like Gladiator II, Bird, Cancap, Hard Truths and Blitz.
In addition, it was the only film of the year to be enrolled in both categories: excellent British film and best film. After the announcement of the winner, the filmmaker stepped on stage to accept the award and give his acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, the Conclave received the maximum node at the award ceremony this year. The film led the race with 12 nominations, followed by other notable titles. The 2024 film is not the first time of Berger, which has received several nodes, as the director’s previous project, all managed to get 14 nominations on the western front.
For the latest film, the Conclave is based on Robert Harris’s novel, which was released in 2016. The story is set in the Vatican City, and is available to stream on the peacock.
