When a 23 -year -old professional professional Mishtha told her mother about taking pole dance classes on Sunday, she got her immediate rejection. His mother’s response was blunt: “Next, are you going to dance in bars?”

It has long (and continues) perception of pole dancing – limited to bar and strip clubs. But many youth in India are turning to it to increase their fitness games.

Physical demand activity, pole dancing strength, improves flexibility, managing weight and increasing core stability. Like a full-body workout, it provides many health benefits. Experts say it is different, its attractive nature and the ability to help individuals to deal with the body’s dismorphia, eventually promotes confidence.

Popular by actors like Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam, and Malaika Arora, pole dancing is shedding her stigma and emerging as a liberation fitness form throughout India. The learners pay somewhere between Rs 1,500 and Rs 5,000 for one-to-one class, it depends on where they are learning from. Celebrity pole dance trainers also charge even more. The fees for the group category are comparatively low. Experts recommend one to three classes a week depending on this purpose.

The Delhi-based pole trainer, Tania-based pole trainer says, “If someone wants to take it as a hobby, one class is fine in a week. But if they want to do it for fitness, there are two to three classes a week that we suggest,” Delhi-based pole trainer Tania Sudan Wahl, who has taught more than 7,000 students in a period of six to seven years. After conducting training classes at your home and Makshift Studio, Sudan is now ready to launch a wide pole dance studio setup at Chirag Enclave in Delhi – the first of its kind in the capital, she tells Today India,

“Most people who take our classes either want to learn something new as a hobby or struggle to stick to the regular gym routine. They find our classrooms easier and easy to make,” she says. The community of pole dancers on Redit also resonates this feeling.

“Among all the hobbies and exercises I have tried for years, the pole is only one that I have been constantly stuck. There is a great aspect for this – almost like the ‘Gota Catch’ M All ‘ – when it comes to learning and skills, especially in the beginning. It is one of the things that makes the pole so intoxicated,” Social media writes on social media.

There are different types of poll training, such as stable, spinning and foreigners. What the artists do, there is a foreign version, focused on erotic choreography and is performed in heels. Most instructors in India, however, focus on pole tricks and its sports side.

Delhi -based content manufacturer, Kirpit Kaur Arora navigated a tragic situation in her life four years ago. She now does it as a game.

“I took it for fun and as a hobby. It was a break from a busy life and helped me find peace in chaos. I usually do one or two classes a week, but after a shoulder injury and after a shoulder injury one has to take a break to carry forward. Now, I am ready to join again in a few weeks.”

Like many other pole dance enthusiasts, Arora also got online with great hatred and decision.

“I remember that I got a lot of hate comments on my first pole dance video that I posted on social media. It was a lot: ‘Are you a stripper?’, ‘Will you strip for me?’

Due to stripping and her association with clubs, one of her elder sisters also suggested that she pursues belly dancing instead of pole dancing. “But when he saw me in the studio and realized how much effort and power it is, it changed his perception.”

This is a common experience for many pole dance enthusiasts. Some people choose their families not to tell that they are learning it, while others hide their videos from relatives on social media.

In contrast, many people are also installing poles in their homes.

“Our own home comfort comes from persons wishing to exercise, dance and practice. This passion then commits a trainer or a competitor-if you reach this level with adequate encouragement, the global marketing director in the X-pole, a global brand, a global brand, which is a global brand, design and building a full series of construction and construction), Today India,

“We are definitely watching an increase in sales and interest, as this discipline allows you to lose weight, get toned and tap in free movement. Many of our communities tell you how discipline helps them re -connect with their body who cannot do other topics,” Says Sunatharamurthy.

There is a high demand for poles in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Goa.

Ahmedabad -based pole dance instructor, Priyanka Gulabni shared: “When I started teaching women a year ago, I did not estimate the crazy response in Ahmedabad. I started with only two students, but now I have 50 students.”

Women of all ages, including them in the 60s, are taking pole dance classes. In Ahmedabad, Priyanka taught many women in her 40s, as is Delhi -based Sudan. “A 63 -year -old woman is the oldest student I have taught, and many women are also learning in the 40s and 50s,” she shares.

While age is not a bar, it is best to consult a doctor before going on your pole dance trip.

Many people believe that the pole is not on the heavy side of the dancing scale. However, Arora, who has been practicing for over four years and a lot of pole dance enthusiasts, disagree. “This is a body positive activity. I have seen a lot of women who weigh more than me-better than me,” she says.

“Poll dance is incredibly empowered, especially for women. Being necessary to get down for better grip helps to combat the body’s dismorphia. Those who are initially self-conscious, often feel thrilling and flatter when they mastered their own videos in a movement.

However, Bruzes are unavoidable when someone starts learning dancing.

“We call them pole kiss. And it is a rule that if I hurt to the left, I should be one on the right. The idea is to attach and strengthen both sides of the body,” Arora shares.

Men are now taking pole dance classes. “In my batch of eight students, we have three men,” shares Kirpit Kaur Arora.

Poles dancing as a fitness form, far away from the mainstream, even in cities like Delhi, is still in a newborn state. But to include poles in their facilities along with increasing number of fitness centers and to include the crop of the dedicated pole dance studio, the craze is all set to climb.

Meanwhile, patrons are also fighting to join the Olympics for pole dance, especially after breaking – a style of street dance – began in the Olympics in 2024.

Poll Dancing was recognized as a sport in 2017 by the Global Association of International Sports Federation (GaisF), which was essentially limited to cabaret and strip clubs. With the first Olympic appearance in the Paris Games, pole dancers feel that it may be the turn to be in the headlines soon.

“When I see that there is breaking in the 2024 Olympics, there is really a place in pole dance. When I see what this body needs, I do not see the difference between gymnastics with parallel bars and a vertical bar. I think it is really its place,” Clara Packet, a pole dancing instructor, a pole dancing instructor, Britain said.
