US President Donald Trump said he had the first call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday, despite the tension to enact his northern neighbor on Tariff and Trump’s recent calls.
Trump said that the two agreed to meet soon after Canada’s general election on 28 April, which Carney had called two weeks ago after Trump’s Nemasis Justin Trudeau.
Trump said on his true social network, “I finished talking with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. It was a very productive call, we agree on many things.”
Trump said he would “hold a meeting immediately after Canada’s upcoming election to work on elements of politics, business and all other factors, which would be great for both the United States and Canada.”
Trump’s shining posts were a dramatic change in tone from recent rhetoric between Washington and Ottawa.
In the indication of tension, Carney announced on Thursday that the era of deep economic, security and military relations between Canada and the United States was “over.”
He had also vowed to retaliate against Trump’s “unfair” decision this week to slap the tariffs parked on cars.
Trump’s planned 25 percent of the planned 25 percent of the levy on vehicle imports in the United States applies next week and may be disastrous for a Canadian auto industry that supports an estimated 500,000 jobs.
Carney also warned on Thursday that he would not participate in important business talks with Washington until the President shows Canada “respect”, especially by eliminating his frequent annexation hazards.
Trump has repeatedly said that NATO’s ally Canada should become the 51st US state after returning to power in January.
The US President on Wednesday warned Canada to combat the upcoming mutual tariffs on all imports that they expect to announce next week.
If they do so, they will “face mass tariffs, which is currently much larger than the planned,” Trump warned.
Typically, a new Canadian leader gives immediate priority to a phone call with the US President, but it was Trump and Carney’s first contact as Canadian took over on 14 February.
