With the rise of app-based services, people are increasingly choosing online options for their needs. This change has led to more frequent interactions between delivery agents and customers. While many stories unfold around this dynamic, a few moments that highlight the power of small, kind gestures can restore our faith in humanity. Actions like offering water to delivery agents, understanding delays caused by natural events or simply showing respect are one way to stand out. Recently, a woman from Bengaluru told how a small effort made her Diwali unforgettable. Surbhi Jain took to X (formerly Twitter) to remember a special Diwali memory.

During the holidays in 2019, she found herself alone in a new city, away from home. In her post, she recalled, “Five years ago, I was in Bangalore for Diwali, and it was a really sad and lonely day. All my friends, flatmates and colleagues had gone home.” That day only one person – a delivery agent – wished to turn her lonely Diwali into a fond memory. “At home alone in a big society, the only person who personally wished me ‘Happy Diwali’ was the delivery boy Ramesh, who brought the food with a warm smile. Let’s remember to show kindness to those who brighten our days even in small ways,” Ms Jain wrote.
