‘Bayan’: Huma Qureshi announces new film, will work with Chandrachur Singh
Huma Qureshi has announced a new film titled ‘Bayan’. She is working with Chandrachur Singh in this investigative police procedural drama.

Huma Qureshi has announced her next film ‘Bayan’. She will lead the upcoming investigative police procedural drama. The film will be backed by award-winning producer Shiladitya Bora. Developed by Film Independent in Los Angeles, ‘Bayan’ will be directed by writer-director Vikas Mishra, best known for his acclaimed feature film ‘Chauranga’.
Huma Qureshi announced it on Instagram with a note: “A film I’m so excited about #Bayan, developed at Film Independent, Los Angeles, is about to go on floors. It’s a rare combination: a brilliant script, a talented crew and their absolute dedication to their work. The energy is infectious. Written and directed by Vikas Mishra, produced by Shiladitya Bora (Platoon One Films), Madhu Sharma (Summit Studios), Kunaal Kumar and Anshuman Singh.”
He added, “The film is supported by the Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and was developed at the LA Residency, part of the Global Media Makers (GMM) program of Film Independent, Los Angeles. During the residency, Bekas was mentored by Craig Mazin (HBO’s Chernobyl) and consulted on the script from writer Jeff Stockwell and story editor Ruth Atkinson (sic).”
Set in the beautiful landscapes of Rajasthan, this drama is a father-daughter story. A female detective named Ruhi is sent to a small town in Rajasthan to solve the first case of her career as the lead investigator. Despite her determination, she faces a formidable opponent who has deep roots in the system. Ruhi must strive to maintain her father’s great legacy in law enforcement, as described in the film’s logline.
The film also stars Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar and is set to begin production this month in Rajasthan. Bayan is produced by Shiladitya Bora (Platoon One Films), Madhu Sharma (Summit Studios), Kunaal Kumar and Anshuman Singh.
The film is supported by the Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam and was developed during the LA Residency, a segment of the Global Media Makers (GMM) program at Film Independent, Los Angeles. During the residency, Vikas Mishra received guidance from Craig Mazin (producer of HBO’s ‘Chernobyl’ and ‘The Last of Us’) and script advice from writer Jeff Stockwell and story editor Ruth Atkinson.
