Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha, directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Saiee Manjrekar, Shantanu Maheshwari and Jimmy Shergill, is in the final stages of its disastrous theatrical run. The film will be out of all theatres in India in just 13 days and that is sad. Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha’s lifetime collection will be in the Rs 9 crore nett range (Rs 10.80 crore gross), which is disastrous for a film with such a credible cast and such an acclaimed director.
‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ earned only Rs 14 crore worldwide
The international figures of the film paint an even worse picture as it has only managed to earn $400 thousand (Rs. 3.35 crores total). The worldwide gross of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is approximately Rs. 14 crores and after incentives the producer’s share worldwide would be approximately Rs. 5 crores. Rs. 5 crores is half of the print and advertising expenses of the film. In short, releasing the film in theatres was far more expensive than not releasing the film at all. If Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has done anything, it is to affect the credibility of the people associated or connected with the film.
Where others had the strength, this is a big loss for everyone involved
Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha had a modest budget, but the involvement of Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey, who share a combined earning of Rs 80 crore per film, made the project big. With the budget of the film estimated to be Rs 150 crore, including the estimated remuneration of Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey, publicity and advertising, and interest on the money invested, the film is a big loss-making proposition as the combined theatrical and non-theatrical recovery will not even come close to matching the budget. The losses are more than Rs 60 crore even in the most optimistic scenario.
Ajay Devgn’s 2024 has been a mixed bag so far; high expectations from Singham Again and Raid 2
Ajay Devgn, after delivering a big hit in the first quarter with Shaitan, has delivered back-to-back films in the following quarters. Maidaan is one of the biggest disasters in terms of losses and Auryon Mein Kahan Dum Tha is no different. Hopefully, Singham Again and Raid 2 will do very well at the box office and help the actor end his turbulent year on a high note.

About where others have the strength
The story of Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha runs parallelly in two different timelines: one in 2001 and one in the present day, i.e. 2024. Krishna (young version played by Shantanu Maheshwari, older version played by Ajay Devgn), who was imprisoned for the alleged murder of 2 civilians, is set to be released from jail after 22½ years. He is scared to get out as he doesn’t know if he wants to see his old girlfriend Vasudha (young version played by Sai Manjrekar, older version played by Tabu) outside the jail on the day of his release.
Slowly we understand what kind of relationship Krishna and Vasudha had and how they became lovers who got separated due to circumstances. Watch ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ to know what happened behind Krishna’s arrest and how Vasudha spent her life waiting for Krishna.
