Aubrey Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena, has been honored in an emotional obituary published in the Miami Herald. The filmmaker died by suicide on January 3 at the age of 47. In an obituary published on a media portal, Baena was described as a loving son, husband, brother and friend.
It describes the director’s roots in Miami, his schooling days in New York, and his move to Los Angeles to pursue his dream in filmmaking.
The published piece also shared Baena’s likes and dislikes, including the books he used to read as a child. It began with, “Jeff left us too soon, but despite his all too short life, he leaves us with treasured memories of a talented filmmaker as well as a very special person on many different levels. Left.”

The obituary further notes that the Horsegirl director was “a true relationship builder who had a gift for bringing people together on and off the film set.”
The published excerpt states, “When he was a boy, Jeff loved reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Ironically, in it, the Little Prince said, ‘I don’t have much time. My There are friends to find nearby and lots of things to learn.’ And it was for Jeff.”
Earlier, Plaza and Baena’s family released a statement confirming the unfortunate news. The statement said that people close to the director are going through a period of tragedy and they are grateful for the support they have received from fans, friends and well-wishers.
