Microsoft and Asus have announced a new range of Rog Xbox Ally Handheld. This includes the new Rog Xbox Ally X and Rog Xbox Ally. These devices combine Asus’s hardware with an updated Windows software experience for handheld.
Starting with the hardware part, the new Rog Xbox Ally X AMD will run on the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, while the Rog Xbox Ally gets a new Ryzen Z2 a processor. LPDDR5X 8000mHz Memory’s associate X 24GB while the associate has 16GB LPDDR5X 6400mHz. The partner is 1TB of storage on X while cheaper models do with 512GB.
Both have a peculiar design that Microsoft claims that Xbox is using the same design principles as a wireless controller. This leads to the grip of the hand which removes the side rather than integrated within the main body.
On the front, the controls are similar to the previous collaborative models, who themselves borrow layout from the Xbox controller. There is also a new Xbox button that does not exist on the old collaborative model. Controls are the same on both models, but the associate X receives impulse trigger rather than the standard hall effect analog trigger.
Both models get 7-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD with FreeyNC premium. Corning Gorilla Glass at the top with DXC anti-reflection coating is safety. It would be good to see an OLED option here, but it seems that Asus is sticking with its LCD panels.
Both models have two USB-C ports, but both ports support USB 3.2 GEN 2 on the support, the collaborative X replaces one of them with USB 4. UHS-II is also a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Both also get Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.4. Finally, the associate X has an 80Wh battery while the associate becomes 60Wh.
Now on the subject of software, the Rog Xbox Ally model is essentially a custom version of Windows. It includes a new Xbox full screen experience, designed for use with a controller. It also reduces background activity and reduces non-essential windows functions to allocate more resources in sports. The Xbox full screen experience not only lists the Microsoft Store Title, but also games from other stores such as steam and epic games.
Microsoft has announced that it is working closely with developers on a new program that helps players to identify games that are adapted for handheld, a lot of valve steam decks like verified logo.
Those who buy Xbox collaborative equipment will get game pass membership for an uncertain period. Microsoft has also worked for a version with Roblox that is adapted for gaming handheld, which will launch with these devices. Finally, there will also be gaming copillot, but no one cares about it.
