Filmmaker Ashwin Kumar, who is ready for the release of his mythological epic ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’, is already deep in planning his next films. In a special chat with India today, the director spoke about his upcoming mythological projects and shared his vision to see Hrithik Roshan a divine role on screen.
While ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ started his direction, Ashwin revealed that two more ambitious mythological films are already in development. Highlighting what is next, he shared, “I will bring out ‘Ajmila’, it is another epic from the Puranas, but it will be live action. The ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ is a soft way to awaken the soul; a (Ajmila) is a very difficult way to awaken the soul. We will do so.”
He further said, “I will tell more about it later, and we will also do a film on Ardhanarishveer, which is half Shiva, half power-but it will be set in a more real world, modern day scenario. So it will also have a fictional element. These are both live-action films.”
Asked if an actor was negotiating for these upcoming projects, Ashwin clarified that the casting would be decided by the screenplay. “Not yet. I am scripting it right now, but soon. I have some things about it about it. Writing tells you what the actor is favorable for it. I usually don’t write with an actor favorable for the role. I have to be true to the story, I have to be true to the script, and the character that shows the actor, tells you how I feel.
He continued, “And then my direction will help the character understand the story and the script, and then it turns into this proper harmony.”
He wants to cooperate on the subject of actors, Ashwin did not hesitate. “Hrithik light!” He immediately said, to describe why the superstar would fit an ideal fit for a mythical fantasy film. “Hrithik is a Demigode person, when you see his structure and his good tricks as a dancer. Therefore, I think he is playing some kind of fictional character, what he does in addition to films, he is a part of his career. I would like to see him in that kind of magnificent role.”
And the role of Ashwin for Hrithik? “Perhaps Nataraja, a dancer. A dancer who would form or destroy cosmic,” he said.
There has been a lot of speculation about Hrithik being an initial option to play the role of Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’. Asked if he believes Hrithik would be right, Ashwin offered a clear perspective. “No, I think Yash is amazing as Ravana, he has a look.”
‘Mahavatar Narasimha’ is set to release on 25 July.
