Ashanti and Nelly have officially become parents! Fans can definitely be happy with them as the couple has taken a huge step in their relationship since they started it up again last year which shocked everyone.
According to Today, the Foolish singer spoke to Entertainment Tonight and revealed that the loved-up couple welcomed a baby boy on July 18 and they have named him Kareem Kencaid Haynes. His nickname is “KK.”
“His father named him with a lot of pride,” he told the publication. Ashanti explained that her son’s name is a tribute to her own father’s name. She added that her son now “directs” everything, and that he is the “overall priority.”
She further added that she doesn’t care what it takes or what she has to do; she will give everything to her son. “This little boy has my whole soul wrapped around his finger,” the singer said.
The singer also opened up about her and Nelly’s newborn baby on social media. The singer shared a post on her Instagram on August 21, with a lengthy caption. She wrote that it’s funny how life’s plans don’t always happen on time. Ashanti explained that she had been waiting to become a mother for a long time, and nothing could have prepared her for motherhood. She gave a glimpse of the postpartum period.
The couple taking a big leap in their relationship is certainly exciting. Asahti and Nelly dated in the early 2000s, and after a long period of time together, they eventually split, only to rekindle their romance in 2023.
They quietly tied the knot in December 2023, the Los Angeles Times reported in June. In April, the Rock Wit U singer told Essence that she and her boyfriend were expecting a baby.
Last year, the new mom made headlines by posing on the red carpet at the VMAs 2023. She carried a clutch that had an old photo of the couple on it. She told Today that this was the event where they first exchanged numbers. The singer expressed that all things have come together in the universe, and she is “ecstatic.”
