Asha Parekh honoured with Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award
The Maharashtra government honoured veteran actress Asha Parekh with the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award on August 21 in Mumbai.

Veteran actress Asha Parekh was honoured with the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award in Mumbai on August 21. Rohini Hattangadi was honoured with the State Cultural Award. Anuradha Paudwal was honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award and singer Sudesh Bhosle was also honoured for his contribution to music.
On August 21, the Maharashtra state government presented the 58th and 59th Maharashtra State Film Awards together for the first time in history. Considered highly important and prestigious in the Marathi film industry, the Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards are given by the state government as a representative of the 13 crore people of Maharashtra.
After receiving the award at a ceremony held at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Parekh said, “Jai Maharashtra!”

Apart from Parekh, veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who played ACP Pradyuman in the popular TV series CID, was also honoured at the awards ceremony. The late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award was presented to N Chandra for his contribution to Indian cinema.
The event was held at the Dome SVP Stadium in Worli, in presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar and Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
