Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly considering the next step amid their strained relationship. A source tells PEOPLE that the Atlas actress “hasn’t seen Ben in weeks.” She’s been spending her days away from him in New York City and the Hamptons, where she threw a big birthday party with friends and family that didn’t include Affleck.
Meanwhile, the Good Will Hunting actor is spending his time in Los Angeles. The source said, “They are moving separately. Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start afresh.” Tabloids have been rife with reports of their strained relationship and a possible separation for quite some time now.
In May, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that they were living separate lives under different roofs. Though they attended graduation ceremonies and family gatherings together, they took separate vacations over the summer and even celebrated their second wedding anniversary separately in July.
The source added that despite everything that’s going on, Lopez is having a “great summer,” spending time with her kids, friends and family. “She’s on vacation and able to focus on what’s next. She always has a good attitude, even when things aren’t perfect,” the source added.
The versatile actress recently starred in Netflix’s Atlas, which received a great response from audiences. She cancelled her summer concert tour to spend time with family and is now producing a series adaptation of Emily Henry’s novel Happy Place for Netflix.
Lopez will star in two films produced by Affleck’s production company Artists Equity. One of them, titled Unstoppable, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival; the other is a musical film titled Kiss of the Spider Woman.
In addition to producing films, Affleck has also done some acting work! He recently finished filming The Accountant 2, a sequel to his 2016 action film. He will also reunite on screen with his real-life best friend and business partner Matt Damon in Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller RIP.
