Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi opened up about the difficult times of their marriage, which included financial pressures and career struggles in their early years.

Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi recently shared an honest and emotional conversation on their YouTube channel to talk about the challenging phase of their marriage. Reflecting on their early years together, the couple talked about the financial pressures, career struggles and the misunderstandings that arose when Archana became the primary breadwinner, a phase that deeply affected their relationship but also shaped their journey.
Archana talked about earning for the family early years of their marriage And the emotional conflict it created for him. Although she appeared confident on the outside, she admitted that she was struggling internally.
“When I married you, I said, ‘Yes, I’m the one who earns.’ But somewhere I had suppressed the feminine side of me, which wanted someone to support me, which wanted me to depend on someone and look up to them, just like my mother looked up to my father,” admits Archana.
She shared that at the time, she did not fully understand these feelings and they may have sent mixed signals to Parmeet. “Sometimes I think it doesn’t matter if I’m earning, but sometimes I provoke you to earn and reject projects,” she said.
Archana also reflected on the professional decisions taken during that phase, revealing that survival in Mumbai often came before creative satisfaction. He shared, “Another mantra of mine was that I never said no to work. The result was that I did a lot of bad films. I did C-grade films. My mentality was to keep bread and butter on the table.”
Over time, he admits, resentment slowly set in. Archana confessed, “At that time, I felt that if you had stepped forward, I would not have had to do that job.”
Parmeet Sethi, in turn, explained his side of the story and why he was cautious in accepting projects that were not in line with his long-term goals. He told that he is seven years younger than Archana and is still trying to establish his footing in the industry.
Parmeet said, “My perspective at that time was that your career is already over, but my career is in the making. I felt that if I took even one wrong step, I would be completely out of the industry.” “I’ve been trying to be a hero for a long time.”
When Archana replied that she also wanted to be a heroine, Parmeet explained, “But you were seven years older than me and ahead of me in your career.”
Despite the emotional stress and differing viewpoints during those years, the couple managed to overcome difficult times together. Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet SethiMarried in 1992, they are now parents to two sons, Aryaman Sethi and Ayushmaan Sethi, and continue to share a strong bond based on honesty and understanding.
