Oscar award winner AR Rahman recently revealed in an interview that actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and director Blessy’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life in English) was not eligible for the prestigious Grammy Awards. When Rahman submitted the film to the Grammys, it was rejected because the soundtrack was one minute less than the length stipulated by the organizers.

While talking to Connect Cine channel, the musician was asked when his next Grammy and Oscar would come. The musician clarified his stance, saying, “My picture wasn’t going to win now. But, it might. We’re submitting right now. I’m doing music with Better Band. Lots of tick boxes for the Grammys. Are.”

Speaking about Got Life, he said, “I did Got Life for Blasey. We released four tracks and because it was a minute less or something, it wasn’t eligible for a Grammy entry. People love the soundtrack of that album. Liked it. It might pass…”

He also recalled that he did not submit Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and Part 2 for the Grammys. He said, “I don’t think I would have put PS1 and PS2 on the list last year. I don’t think we got into that. It’s all about things coming together.”

AR Rahman won the National Award for Best Music Director (Background Music) for director Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1. She received the award from President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on 8 October.

On the work front, Rahman’s last project was Dhanush’s second directorial venture, Raayan. He will be seen in films like Chhaava, Thug Life, Gandhi Talks and many more in many languages.
