AR Murgados is ready for the release of his next film, Madharsi, starring Shivkartikeyan in the lead role. As the film is soon ready to hit the big screen, the director revealed in an interview that he had initially planned to fly a ‘dry’ road-trip action with Thalapathi Vijay.
Did AR Murugadoss plan to do a road-trip film with Thalapathi Vijay?
In a conversation with Gobinath behind, AR Murugdos shared that he was originally intended to make a road-trip film with ‘dry’ action elements after Thupappaki and Katthi. However, the plans changed, and they eventually moved to form the government.
In his own words, “After Kathy, we were wondering what kind of film to do together. I asked him (Thalapathi Vijay) if we can do a completely dry film. I think I can talk about it now. The story was about a Sri Lankan Tamizan that asked for refuge in India and later moved towards Thailand.”
“When he reached Thailand, he had to face a new problem. Then he would travel to Canada and finally end in London. It was a full journey film that had only a dry and intense action film with a lungi and a shirt wearing a shirt.
The director explained that Vijay then suggested to do a political film, which is similar to Ramana, a film directed by Murugados, who was under the leadership with Vijayakanth. This eventually created the government.
Thalapathi Vijay’s upcoming film
Thalapathi Vijay recently shot his upcoming film, Jana Nayagan directed by H Winoth. The Tamil language film is described as a political action drama, in which the superstar plays the role of a former police officer.
The film, which accuses Vijay of being the last cinematic project of Vijay before entering politics, is included as co-leaders as Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol. Pahanwa artists include Mamita Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narayan and many more.
Jan Nayagan has been slated for dramatic release matching with Pongal Festival on January 9, 2026.

In the film, Kantara chapter 1 fame Rukmini Vasant is shown as a female lead with Vidyarthi Jamwal as a primary antagonist.
