External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday welcomed Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu, who arrived in New Delhi on his first bilateral visit to India.
S Jaishankar appreciated Mr Muizzu’s commitment to strengthening India-Maldives relations. He also expressed confidence that Mr. Muizzu’s talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give new strength to their friendly relations.
“Delighted to meet President Mohammad Muizzu today at the beginning of his state visit to India,” S Jaishankar wrote on X while sharing pictures with Mr Muizzu.
“Appreciate his commitment to enhance India-Maldives relations. Confident that his talks with PM Narendra Modi tomorrow will give a new impetus to our friendly relations,” he said.

President Muizzoo arrived in India on Sunday for his first bilateral visit to India along with First Lady of Maldives Sajida Mohammed.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kiriti Vardhan Singh welcomed him. Mr Muizzu’s visit to India from October 6-10 comes at the official invitation of President Draupadi Murmu.

During the visit, President Muizzu will hold meetings with President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior officials.
Notably, this is Mr Muizzu’s second visit to India after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in early June this year.
