In short
- The next major iOS update is called iOS 26, iOS 19 not
- It is based on Apple’s new liquid glass design
- With update, Apple planned to unite all its major operating systems software
Apple today introduced a new “liquid glass” design language in its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), a new “liquid glass” design language, marking the most important visual overhaar for its mobile operating system in a decade. The last time Apple made such a dramatic change, in 2013 with the launch of iOS 7, which started the era of flat design.
Liquid glass beauty is actually the largest USP of iOS 26 update (small for unique sales point). With this, Apple is moving away from the Stark Minimalism done by its former design Guru Johnny Ive, which has defined iOS for many years. The new interface is transported and deeply immersive. Users can expect the system-wide transparency and effects such as glass, which are integrated into the length and width of the UI inside the first-party apps.
iOS 26: Design change, top features
Apple says that liquid glass is to bring happiness and happiness, the material brings and the center. The elements within the OS have a new feeling of depth and liquidity, resembling polish, look through surfaces that react dynamically and react to speed.
This visual change is not only cosmetic. Apple says that the liquid glass design aims to create a more harmonious and intuitive user experience in its entire ecosystem, which is iPhone, iPad, MAC and more, preparing users for future hardware innovations, especially the 20th anniversary is slandes for the 20th anniversary iPhone, 2027. It is easy to see where some inspiration is coming from. View elements are seen in Visionos-Integrated Apple Vision Pro in iOS 26.

In 2013, the effect of iOS 7 was nothing deep, transferring the industry standard to a cleaner, flattery beauty. With iOS 26, Apple is once again trying to redefine the mobile interface design, pushing the boundaries with a sophisticated, layered approach that prefer visual depth and interaction.
Beyond the amazing visual changes, the iOS 26 brings new features and a host of refinement to the main applications. For example, the phone app is getting a new unified layout with call screening and hold Asist, the message app is getting background/theme support, polls and typing indicators are coming in group chat, the camera app is getting more simplified design with less options, photo app is getting better tabs, while Safari is getting better tabs for more immunity.
Developers can get their hand on the first bets starting today (the first public beta is coming next month) with the expectation of a public release with the new iPhone 17 lineup later this year. iOS 26 iPhone 11 and later will be available.
