Apple will start assembleing airpods in India starting next month
Apple has been collecting iPhones in India for years – since 2017, to be accurate – but for the first time, the company will also start making airpods in India.
Listen to the story

Apple will start AirPods starting from April 2025 in India, confirmed a reliable source Bharat Today TechFoxconn will assemble airpods for Apple in its Hyderabad factory. The Apple manufacturer agreed to gather airpods at the Hyderabad plant last year, but the production is only starting with the schedule set for the next month. It is still not clear which Airpods models will gather in India.
This was first reported Press Trust of IndiaWhich also claims that all units gathered in the Foxcony Factory in India will be exported to other countries. Bharat Today Tech was unable to verify this information.
With the goal of advancing its production dependence on China, Apple is transferring its manufacturing and assembly to countries such as India and Vietnam. In India, in particular, Apple is gradually expanding products that collect it locally.
For example, earlier this year, there was a report that Apple is working on carrying forward MacBook production in India from Vietnam. Apple wants to return its plans to expand the MacBook Manufacturing in Vietnam, allegedly emphasizing India. Apple has a comprehensive strategy that India contributed 25 percent of its global iPhone output within the next two years, as part of its efforts to diversify beyond China.
Last month, Apple also announced that its latest iPhone 16 device, iPhone 16E, will also be gathered in India for local markets and exports. In fact, the iPhone 16s set another record, as the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max were the first iPhone Pro models in India. “The entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the iPhone 16E, is being gathered for Indian consumers and for export to select countries,” Apple said.
Prior to last year, Apple focused on collecting the old and entry-level iPhone models in India. Between 2021 and 2022, production was extended beyond the iPhone SE only to include the iPhone 14, and by 2023, the iPhone 15 units built by India were available from the day of launch. Previously, only the base model was assembled locally, in which high storage versions were imported. However, the later production increased to include the iPhone 15 Plus, which was managed by Petron.
Apple is continuously expanding its presence in India through retail operation and local manufacturing. The company began production of iPhones in India in 2017, which began with the original iPhone SE. Since then, models like iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 15 have been locally assembled. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are also now manufactured in India for both domestic and international markets.
Paralelly, Apple is also increasing its retail appearance in India. With its current stores in Delhi and Mumbai, CEO Tim Cook announced in November 2024 that four additional stores were on the way. New outlets have been planned for another place in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR region and Mumbai.
