Apple will change the design of iPhone 16, new leak reveals that it will have a dedicated camera button
Apple is expected to launch its upcoming flagship iPhone 16 in September. Although nothing has been confirmed from the company yet, rumour has it that the device will feature a vertical camera set-up and an improved camera button.
After WWDC 2024, all eyes are on Apple’s next move. As per tradition, the next event in September will unveil the next flagship – iPhone 16. Earlier this month, Apple announced that the iPhone 16 will be equipped with iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. However, it did not reveal any details about the hardware development. But rumours and leaks have a lot to share. In the latest leak, TechNetBook has obtained photos of the iPhone 16 case, which suggest a new and improved design.
As per the leak, the vanilla model of the iPhone 16 will get the new design. Leaked images of a smartphone case allegedly belonging to the iPhone 16 suggest that the device may feature a vertical camera setup and a cutout for a physical camera shutter button.
Regarding the camera setup, this is not the first time such leaks have surfaced. Apart from the recent leaks, rumours are pointing towards a vertical camera setup and a dedicated camera button as well as an action button. This setup will be similar to the setup seen in the iPhone X and iPhone 11.
iPhone 16: Camera button
It is expected that the dedicated camera button will be powered by a haptic engine, allowing users to focus on a subject with a soft tap and take a picture with another tap. The ability of this button is to act as a camera shutter to capture photos and videos. This button will be separate from the action button.
Apple is also reported to bring a new action button to the standard models of the iPhone 16 series, which is something that is not found in the current models.
iPhone 16 is coming in September: What to expect
Under the hood, the iPhone 16 series is expected to be powered by either the A18 or A17 Pro chip depending on the model, with the Pro variants getting a more powerful version. This new chip will be built on the latest 3-nanometer node, and will likely bring efficiency and performance improvements, making multitasking smoother and more efficient. An upgrade to 8GB of RAM and default storage starting at 256GB is also on the cards for more space and speed for all user needs.
The new iPhones will also feature Wi-Fi 6E support, which will provide faster and more reliable internet connectivity. According to some rumors, the Pro models may be equipped with Wi-Fi 7, which will further increase internet speed and stability.
Improving battery life is another key focus for the iPhone 16 series. Leaks suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature bigger batteries, potentially offering over 30 hours of battery life. This would be a significant jump from the current all-day battery life promise of the iPhone 15 series. Additionally, Apple is reportedly exploring new ways to manage heat dissipation, addressing concerns raised by overheating issues in previous models.
